Mindful Mama Challenge  # 4: Savor Your Coffee 

This idea is straight from the wonderful book, Breathe Mama Breathe. If you are anything like me, you may start craving your first cup of coffee the night before, looking forward to the little boost of energy. Today we are going to savor each step of preparing and drinking our first cup of Joe. Let’s begin!


Savor Your Coffee 

Begin by inhaling a full breath of the beans that will soon be your coffee. What feelings arise as you inhale the familiar scent?

Aroma Fills the Air

While you brew your coffee notice the aroma filling the air. How do you feel anticipating your first cup of Joe? Do you notice an internal excitement?


Slow Everything Down

It’s ready! Just before you take your first sip, slow everything down. Hold the warm mug in both hands. Feel the warmth on your hands. Lift the mug to your nose and take in the smooth aroma.


Take Your First Sip

Take your first sip and notice the warmth in your mouth and then in your throat as you swallow.


I have been practicing this for a couple weeks now, when I remember, and it is hands down one of my favorite mindful moments of the day.
